Stay Safe Athlone 19-22 April 2017

We will be running our first Outreach and Awareness Campaign of 2017 in Athlone, Co Westmeath on 19-22 April.  The Athlone programme is still being finalised but the main events are:
Wednesday 19th    
House to house booklet distribution by local volunteers
Thursday 20th   
Talks to local schools by our Education Facilitators
Friday 21st 
Outreach Day in Towncentre Shopping Centre
Premium Sponsor information on popups and handouts
Saturday 22nd   
Street booklet distribution by local volunteers
Sponsor information included with the booklets
All sponsors will be acknowledged in the booklet distributed tohouseholds and businesses in the Athlone area by our local Mental Health Awareness Team volunteers, as well as in press releases.

Warning Signs

Warning signs may include but are not limited to:
Withdrawing from family and friends
Having difficulty concentrating and thinking clearly
Sleeping too much or too little
Feeling tired most of the time
Gaining or losing a significant amount of weight
Talking about feeling hopeless or guilty
Talking about suicide or death
Self-destructive behaviour like drinking too much or abusing drugs
Losing interest in favourite things or activities
Giving away prized possessions
Mood swings
If a friend mentions suicide, take it seriously. If they have expressed an immediate plan, or have access to prescription medication or other potentially deadly means, do not leave them alone. Get help immediately.
